One of my “soapbox” issues is that too few organizations focus on analytics business requirements and KPI definition. This is why I spend so much time working with clients to help them identify their analytics business requirements. I have found that having requirements enables you to make sure that your analytics solution/implementation are aligned with the true needs of the organization. For this reason, I don’t take on consulting engagements unless the customer agrees to spend time defining their business requirements.
