Digital Analytics and Artificial Intelligence: Introducing The Analyst’s Companion
It’s been forever since I have blogged but with Analytics Demystified having such great employees and clients I honestly don’t have that much to do that is worth talking about here in the Analytics Demystified blogs …
… until now.
Anyone who has followed my fifteen year career running this consultancy surely knows that I am a technology nerd who is passionate about the interface between code and humanity. I built the technology that let us run Web Analytics Wednesday, I built the platform that let us run the Analysis Exchange, and now I have built what I believe to be the first interface between digital analytics data and artificial intelligence.
I call it “The Analyst’s Companion.”
Rather than write a bunch I made a short video that I hope you’ll watch to learn a little more about the system:
A few thoughts:
- I have been working with gpt-3.5-turbo and gpt-4 for months now and while they do not have the sophistication of a human analyst, gpt-4 especially does a pretty good job of understanding the question and parsing the data to answer it;
- I built this application largely as a prototype to prove that it was possible. With the pace of the AI and LLM technology environment I have no doubt that the technology will evolve as quickly as I can get my head around it;
- I am a horrible coder … trust me, I am … but this was all pretty simple to build. Some Python, some Javascript, and a little VBscript because it drives Tim Patten crazy that I still code in Active Server Pages 😉
Finally, I am open to ideas and suggestions. I am looking for a few companies who have more robust GA4 deployments than I personally do — yes, yes, I know I know — who are interested in using the Companion freely in exchange for sharing their experience and ideas. Email me directly if you’re interested in giving the system a try!
